How it works

Three steps to a clear answer

I

Scan the label

Point your camera at the ingredient list, or type a product name. The scanner reads the full INCI list in seconds.

II

Decode every ingredient

Each ingredient is explained in plain English: what it does, how safe it is, and any flags for your skin type.

III

Decide with confidence

See an honest verdict on the whole product, and a SEREN alternative if it falls short of our standard.

What it checks

Every ingredient, read properly

Function

What each ingredient is actually there to do, from active to filler.

Safety

A clear safety read on every ingredient, with anything questionable flagged.

Comedogenic rating

Whether an oil or butter is likely to clog pores on blemish-prone skin.

Allergens & fragrance

Common irritants and fragrance allergens surfaced for sensitive skin.

Skin-type fit

Whether the formula suits oily, dry, combination or sensitive skin.

The SEREN standard

How it compares to our COSMOS-certified, licence-backed formulations.

Why it matters

Anyone can say clean

The beauty aisle is full of words that mean nothing: natural, pure, clean. We built SR Scan because the truth is on the label, if you can read it. Every SEREN product carries a real COSMOS licence number, not a marketing claim, and the scanner lets you hold any brand, including ours, to that same standard.

Questions

Good to know

Is the ingredient scanner free?

Yes. SR Scan is free to use. Enter or scan a product's ingredients and you get an instant, plain-English breakdown.

What is an INCI list?

INCI stands for International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients, the standardised ingredient names printed on every cosmetic. Our scanner decodes those names into what they actually do.

Can it tell me if a product suits my skin?

Yes. Alongside each ingredient's function and safety, the scanner flags ingredients to watch for your skin type, such as fragrance for sensitive skin or comedogenic oils for blemish-prone skin.

Does it work on any brand?

Any brand. SR Scan reads the ingredient list, so it works on any cosmetic product, not only SEREN.
